If you are paying for office cleaning, this is what should be happening every day, every week and every month. Use it to check your current cleaners or to brief new ones.
Most office managers only notice cleaning when it goes wrong: the bin that was not emptied, the smell in the washroom, the dust on the reception desk. A written checklist fixes that. Here is the one we work to, which you are welcome to use.
Every day
- Empty all bins and replace liners; take waste to the collection point.
- Wipe and sanitise desks, phones, door handles and light switches.
- Vacuum carpets and mop hard floors, including entrances and corridors.
- Clean and restock washrooms: toilets, basins, mirrors, soap, tissue, hand towels.
- Clean the kitchen or tea point: sink, counters, microwave front, fridge handle.
- Spot-clean glass doors and partitions where fingerprints show.
Every week
- Dust high and low: tops of cabinets, skirting boards, window sills, blinds.
- Clean chairs and upholstery; vacuum under desks and behind furniture.
- Wash internal glass fully, not just spot-cleaning.
- Clean inside the microwave and fridge, and discard forgotten food (with notice).
- Disinfect waste bins themselves, not just the liners.
Every month
- Deep-clean washroom tiles and grout, and descale taps and toilets.
- Machine-scrub or buff hard floors; shampoo high-traffic carpet areas.
- Clean air-conditioning vents and grilles, and dust ceiling fans.
- Wipe down walls, doors and door frames.
- External glass and signage, where access allows.
What to ask your cleaning provider
Who supervises the crew, and how do you know the checklist was actually done? Are staff background-checked? What happens if something is missed? With our CleanCare contracts, every visit ends with a signed checklist and the supervisor's name on it, and anything missed is corrected at no cost.
